The A590 in Cumbria was closed in both directions last night (December 24) after a road traffic collision.
The incident happened on the carriageway between the A591 and the A6 at around 9pm with Cumbria Police and North West Ambulance Service both rushing to the scene.
Witnesses described the crash as serious but also indicated there were no serious injuries as a result. This has not been confirmed by Cumbria Police.
Emergency services were described as ‘out in force’ and the road was reopened by around 10.20pm.
A spokesperson for National Highways issued an update: “The A590 in Cumbria is now open in both directions between the A591 and the A6 following an earlier road traffic collision.
“There are minimal delays or congestion in the area. Please take care whilst travelling.”
