A little boy is clinging to life in hospital after he was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash his parents say he will need a ‘miracle’ to survive.
Four-year-old Riot was riding with a 32-year-old man in Margate, Brisbane, about 7.15pm on Saturday when they collided with a 4WD.
The driver of the 4WD was not injured but Riot and the man were rushed to Royal Brisbane Hospital and the Queensland Children’s Hospital in critical condition.
His aunt said the crash was so serious the young boy had part of his skull removed and is still in a coma days after the accident.
A Queensland family’s worst nightmare came true on Saturday when their four-year-old son, Riot (above), was severely injured in a motorcycle accident in Margate, Brisbane
‘Riot is four years old and fighting for his life, they have had to remove half of his skull and he is currently in an induced coma,’ she said.
‘It will be an absolute miracle if he makes it out of his coma alive and if he does we have been advised he will be severely disabled.’
Riot’s mother is also about to give birth to her sixth child and could bring the new baby into the world just as one of them leaves it.
‘(She) is heavily pregnant and about to be induced to give birth due to severe medical reasons and has five kids at home,’ Riot’s aunt wrote.
She said she set up a fundraiser to help cover the family’s impending medical costs and Riot’s funeral costs if his condition worsens.
The aunty asked for the public’s help to cover medical costs as she revealed Riot is in an induced coma and had half his skull removed while his mother is heavily pregnant and due to be induced
‘We have started this go fund me page to help take some of the financial burden off for any ongoing medical costs for riot,’ she said.
‘If he does not make it through these funds will be used for his funeral expenses.
‘Anything helps, we thank you in advance for your donations, prayers and support.’
So far the appeal has raised $1,600 from 39 donors.
