A Vermont man is thanking his loyal β€” canine β€” companion after a crash on Interstate 89 this week. Tinsley, a year-old Shiloh Shepard was spotted running on the interstate’s Memorial Bridge that connects Lebanon and White River Junction around 10 p.m. Police initially tried to corral the dog but said they were eventually led to a damaged guard rail. β€œAlmost alerting them to what was off the roadway, which they discovered a truck which had been overturned with two gentlemen that were ejected from the vehicle,” said Lt. Daniel Baldassarre of New Hampshire State Police. One of those men, Cam Laundry, was later identified as Tinsley’s owner. β€œShe’s my little guardian angel you know,” Laundry said. β€œIt’s a miracle that she had that kind of intelligence to do what she did.”Hartford EMTs credit the speed of their response to the Lassie-like dog, which helped when treating both men for some injuries and hypothermia. β€œThe whole time we were starting our patient care it sat there nice and calm right next to its owner,” said Captain Jack Hedges of Hartford Fire Department. Both men were taken to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center to be treated. After Laundry was released he went home to spend time with his guardian angel.β€œOf course, she never leaves my side, so we’re always together in that truck that got wrecked she’s always my co-pilot, she’s always with me,” Laundry said.So how will the grateful human reward Tinsley?β€œShe gets spoiled all the time,” Laundry said. β€œShe’ll get some venison probably burger tonight and probably some back scratches with it.”She seems to be taking it all in stride, playful as ever while running around the yard.
