WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office said a man in his 30s died in a two-vehicle crash north of Garden Plain. The crash happened Friday around 9 a.m. near 295th Street West and 21st Street North.

The sheriff’s office said a Toyota Camry heading north on 295th Street West ran a stop sign crossing 21st Street North. The Camry was then struck on the driver’s side door by a Ford Focus heading east.

The 36-year-old man driving the Camry was ejected and died at the scene. A 38-year-old woman in the Camry was seriously injured and transported to the hospital. Her injuries appear to be non-life-threatening.

The 19-year-old man driving the Focus was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

β€œAnytime that you see an intersection that has flashing lights, it’s because there have been similar incidents in the past,” said Lt. Jason Gill, Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office. β€œThis is an intersection that we worked a couple of accidents before. The thing is, I’m sure people run these stop signs all the time. There just happened to be someone there today that caused a collision.”

The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the circumstances of the crash. It has not released any names yet.
