A GoFundMe has been set up for the family of a crash victim that was killed in a wrong-way crash Monday.
The online fundraiser was set up to benefit the family of Teah Owens, who was killed in the crash on I-94 near Meldrum road in Casco Township. The GoFundMe, which was created by Owens’ sister, states Owens was on her way to visit family with her youngest son when the crash occurred.
The GoFundMe states donations would be used for Owens’ funeral expenses, her son’s medical expenses and lost wages of the boy’s father. As of Tuesday afternoon, it had raised $3,165 of its $30,000 goal. To donate, visit gofundme.com/f/tragedy-with-mother-and-youngest-son. Owens and the at-fault driver died. Owens’ child, who was in the Yukon, was transported to a local hospital, then transferred to a children’s hospital for treatment of critical injuries, police said.
The crash remains under investigation.
The Richmond Fire Department, Richmond-Lenox EMS and St. Clair County Sheriff Department also assisted at the scene of the crash.
Further details on the crash have not been released.
