Excessive speed is believed to be a factor in a Friday morning crash that killed one person during Friday’s snowstorm, Massachusetts State Police said. State police rushed to the scene of the crash on Route 140 northbound in the area of mile marker 10 in Freetown. Police said a 2008 Toyota Tacoma left the roadway and crashed into a tree.The driver, Jason Saccocia, 45, of New Bedford, was located by first responders inside of the vehicle. Authorities said Saccocia was pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles were involved in the crash and police said Saccocia was the sole occupant in the vehicle. State police said the exact cause and circumstances of the crash remain under investigation.
