The A640 Rochdale Road in Firgrove has reopened in both directions following a single-vehicle crash.

A black Audi mounted the pavement and smashed into a garden wall at the front of a home.

Traffic service Inrix reported that traffic was queueing back from the site of the collision, close to Willows Lane and Larchway, although it has subsequently cleared.

Pictures from the scene show significant damage to the car involved, as well as a wall – with crash debris strewn across the road.

Police are in attendance and the vehicle is in the process of being recovered, say sources at the scene.

An update on Inrix said: β€œA640 ROCHDALE ROAD – FIRGROVE – BOTH DIRECTIONS – GREATER MANCHESTER.

Greater Manchester Police are yet to release any further details about the incident.
