Three people were transported to hospital with serious injuries, including two with life-threatening injuries, after a head-on collision on Highway 41 north of Napanee on Tuesday afternoon.

At approximately 3 p.m., a news release from the Lennox and Addington County Ontario Provincial Police stated, officers and other emergency crews responded to a report of the collision near Frizzell Road in Stone Mills Township.

According to the report, a white pickup truck was travelling southbound and collided with a northbound truck hauling a trailer.

The white pickup then collided head-on with a second northbound grey pickup. The vehicles came to rest in the northbound lane.

The driver of the southbound pickup was transported to hospital by emergency services and was treated for serious non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the grey pickup was transported to hospital by emergency services with serious life-threatening injuries. The passenger in the grey pickup was transported to hospital by Ornge air ambulance with serious life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the truck pulling the trailer was not injured.

The roadway was closed for a number of hours while the OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation and Reconstruction unit attended the scene.
