Traffic in Newport city centre was backed up for more than an hour following a crash on Friday afternoon.

Police and fire services attended Usk Way near Friars Walk shopping centre after reports of a collision on Friday, January 14, just after 2pm.

The A4042 Usk Way was partially blocked northbound for over an hour due to the incident, with queuing traffic and Stagecoach services also being affected.

Gwent Police confirmed there had been a two-vehicle collision near John Frost Square but that no injuries had been reported.

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service confirmed crews from Malpas and Maindee stations attended the scene alongside other emergency services before a stop message was received at approximately 2.33pm.
